The Cubs picked up two wins to extend their record to 4-2 overall. The Cubs traveled to Foley on Monday and Rockford on Thursday to add the two wins to their overall record.
Set scores against Foley were 25-17 and 25-18. The Cubs' hitting and serving picked apart a struggling defense from the Falcons. The Cubs capitalized on the Falcons weaknesses, which led to an easy win.
Rockford posed a greater challenge. A number of key players for the Cubs were battling illness on Thursday night. In the first set, the Cubs won 25-19. In the second set, the Cubs struggled to make key passes to run their offense. The Cubs had plenty of opportunities to win the set and the match, but errors led to a Rockford victory in set two, 24-26. In the final set, the Cubs stayed in front to outscore the Rockets 15-10 for a match win.
The Cubs have a four-game home stand over the next two weeks. Norwood-Young America comes to town on Monday, Sept. 17. The Pierz Pioneers will be in the Wirth Gym Thursday, Sept. 20. The following week, Annandale and Maple Lake will be in Kimball.
