Weather column: I think many of you are enjoying the more "normal" temperatures this week. After near record heat on Saturday, temperatures finally started to cool off by Sunday and again on Monday. By Monday morning, Sept. 17, temperatures had fallen off into the lower 30s in many spots.
Bemidji dropped to 32 degrees for the state morning low. Hallock dipped to 33 degrees along with Roseau. Meanwhile, Alexandria was a "warmer" 46 degrees for the morning low. Hutchinson dipped to 49 degrees.
High temperatures were only in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s on Monday. I know I enjoyed the feel of fall in the air! The cooler air helps many of us with allergies. Those allergies have been horrible this year with the heat and dry conditions.
I hate to tell you, however, there is little moisture in our future. Through this weekend, and beyond into early next week the computer models show little moisture. Most of the state is dealing with drought conditions as you know, and rainfall is becoming harder and harder to come by.
Please be careful if you are outdoors to not accidently start a wildfire!
Have a great week!
Weather history: On this date in 1984 it was a very hot day across Minnesota with temperatures more in line for early August than mid-September. Highs hit the mid to upper 90s across most of Minnesota.
Weather fact: The winter of 1932 was so cold that Niagara falls froze completely solid!
