Fatal fire in Paynesville Township

Monday, Sept. 17, at about

6:01 a.m., a motorist reported a fire at a residence located at 19503 293rd Ave., in Paynesville Township. The Paynesville Fire Dept. and Ambulance Service and Stearns County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call. When responders arrived, they found the mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

When the flames were extinguised, a human body was found inside the residence. The body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting in the investigation.

The home owner found in the home was identified as Scott Allen Vogelpohl, age 47.

Wright County Sheriff's Office

Sept.10, Troy Rodney Lee Paulson, 24 of Cokato,was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for domestic assault strangulation.

Sept. 12, Cory Allen Lotz, 19 of Buffalo, was arrested in Buffalo on the charge of theft.

Sept. 12, Justin Dean Hensley, 35 of Rockford, was arrested in Hennepin County on the charge of possession of child pornography.

Sept. 12, Blake Henry Schauf, 22 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of fleeing on foot and a Wright County warrant for probation violation.

Sept. 15, Robb Ray Bartel, 39 of Clearwater, was arrested in Clearwater on the charges of second-degree DWI and open container.

Sept. 15, Joshua Paul Shusta, 32 of Rockford, was arrested in Rockford on the charge of third-degree DWI.

Sept. 16, Jacob Micah Nelson, 18 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake Township on the charge of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Sept. 16, Christopher Aaron Erickson, 31 of Cokato, was arrested in Cokato on the charge of fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

There were 4 property-damage accidents, 2 personal-injury accidents, 2 hit-and-run accidents, and 2 car-deer accidents.

There were 6 arrests for DWI,

7 underage-consumption arrests, and 32 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.

Monday, September 17

2:03 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of suspicious activity at a residence on County State Aid Highway 34, Forest Prairie Township.

Sunday, September 16

1:57 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Healthcare Center, Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to St Cloud Hospital.

4:10 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue, per the request of Stearns County Sheriff's Office, for a medical at a residence on Browns Lake Road, Eden Lake Township.

10:03 a.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public in getting property from a residence on Brooks Street South, Eden Valley.

11:16 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of obscene text messages at a residence on 375th Street, Forest Prairie Township. A report was taken.

6:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received information regarding an animal complaint in the area of MN Highway 55 and 587th Avenue, Manannah Township.

6:18 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to assist the Stearns County Sheriff's Office with a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Bell Street, Eden Valley.

6:46 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of possible unsafe conditions at a residence on County State Aid Highway 2, City of Forest City. The deputy checked area residences and found all to be okay.

7:47 p.m. the Sheriff's Office observed suspicious activity at Farm Rite Equipment, Parker Avenue West, Dassel. The deputy checked the unoccupied vehicle and made contact with the property owner who will take care of the vehicle.

8:17 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Fire Department for a report of a trailered boat on fire at a residence on Meeker Stearns Street, Forest Prairie Township. The fire was extinguished and a report was filed. The boat had little to no monetary value.

Saturday, September 15

9:05 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a check the welfare of a person living on 640th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy spoke to an individual and determined everything was okay.

12:31 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public on County State Aid Highway 30, Manannah Township. The deputy advised the party of their options.

3:29 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Litchfield Fire Department to a bean field on fire on County State Aid Highway 16 and 570th Avenue, Harvey Township. A small amount of the crop was lost. The fire started while combining was occurring.

4:54 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a harassment call at a residence at the Watkins Trailer Court, Watkins. The deputy advised the party of their options.

9:34 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to assist the MN Department of Corrections in locating an individual at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins.

9:47 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance, per the request of Stearns County Sheriff's Office, for a medical at a residence on Linden Avenue East, Kimball. One individual was transported to St Cloud Hospital.

Friday, September 14

8:21 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched the Grove City Fire Department to a car fire on 545th Avenue, Acton Township. The vehicle was a total loss and a report was taken.

10:19 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an injured animal complaint on CSAH 11, Litchfield Township. The call was referred to the DNR.

4:23 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched the Eden Valley Fire for a grass fire on MN Highway 22 and Edgeton Road, Stearns County.

6:36 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted an individual at a residence on 1st Street, Watkins. The deputy spoke with the individual who was advised of options on a custody issue.

9:36 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a noise complaint at a residence on School Avenue South, Watkins. The deputy made contact with both parties and the situation was mediated.

9:48 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a possible suicide threat at a residence on 350th Street, Forest Prairie Township. The party was placed on a hold and transported to crisis in Willmar.

10:26 p.m. the Sheriff's Office observed several stray cattle near a residence on County State Aid Highway 2, Watkins. The deputy made contact with the owner who was in the process of corralling the animals.

Thursday, September 13

6:11 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public at a residence on County State Aid Highway 30, Manannah Township. Deputies stood by while property was exchanged.

Wednesday, September 12

8:12 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of cows loose in the area of 33800 645 Avenue, Forest City Township. The deputy made contact with the owner and he was going to round up cattle.

11:10 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a civil issue at a residence on 642nd Avenue, Forest Prairie Township.

Tuesday, September 11

12:42 a.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public at a residence on State Street North, Eden Valley.

1:31 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of theft from a vehicle in the Red Goat parking lot on Central Avenue North, Watkins.

2:22 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of cattle running loose in the area of 345th Street and 642 Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy located the owner and they are attempting to locate the cows.

4:12 a.m. the Sheriff's Office checked on a suspicious vehicle in the Clear Lake County Park on County State Aid Highway 2, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy spoke to the individual and all was okay.

4:23 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of unsafe conditions at 350th Street and 650th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. The county highway department was notified of the downed tree.

7:30 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint of cows near the road on US Hwy 12 near 650th Avenue, Litchfield Township. The deputy located the owner and the cows were returned to the fenced in pasture.

9:29 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance and contacted Stearns County to page Kimball Rescue for a medical at an address on 320th Street, Kimball. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital.

2:14 p.m. while on patrol, a deputy located a red 26" Huffy bicycle in the ditch on 617th Avenue near MN Highway 55, Manannah Township. The bike was transported to the impound lot.

9:33 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at a residence on County State Aid Highway 30, Manannah Township.

Monday, September 10

8:20 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of theft from a location on Central Avenue North, Watkins.

10:40 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of harassment at a residence on 315th Street, Forest City Township.

2:57 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of criminal damage to property at a location on MN Highway 55, Watkins.

3:16 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of suspicious activity on County State Aid Highway 3, Manannah Township.

4:38 p.m. the Sheriff's Office checked on an unoccupied, abandoned vehicle on County State Aid Highway 21, Kingston Township. The vehicle was not a traffic hazard.
