Cubs' JV volleyball record at 2-2

By Amy Notch, coach

The Cubs played two home matches during the first week of school for 2012. The Cubs faced Royalton Tuesday, Sept. 4, and B-B-E Thursday, Sept. 6. The junior varsity volleyball team handed the Royals a loss, but the Cubs struggled to find their tempo against a talented Jaguar team. Scores for the sets against the Royals were 25-20 and 26-24. Set scores against the Jaguars were 14-25 and 21-25.

The team is showing improvement in their offensive choices, utilizing increasingly accurate passing. Defense continues to be an area of concern as well as transitioning quickly between offensive and defense. The young team is picking up the increasing intensity of the game quickly, and they hope to eliminate serving runs by the other team with a more vocal serve receive.

The Cubs face the Foley Falcons on Monday, Sept. 10 in Foley. They travel to Rockford Thursday, Sept. 13. The next home match will be Monday, Sept. 17, against Norwood-Young America.
