Irene Gard of Benson died Friday Aug. 24, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital, She was 73.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley. Friends and family called one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home in Eden Valley. Burial was at St. Peter's Cemetery in Eden Valley.

Irene M. Gard was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Eden Valley to John and Marie (Brinker) Theis. She married John Gard May 19, 1958. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Artichoke Lake. Irene enjoyed embroidery, walking, exercising, and spending time with her family.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; sisters Bernice Mills, Catherine Berg, Lucille Blomker, and Beatrice Eckhoff; and brothers Franklin, Elmer, and Louie Theis.

She is survived by her daughter and son Cheryl (and Darrell)

Causey of Humble, Texas, and Duke (and Charlotte) Gard of Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters and brothers Mary Lou Rose of Palmer, Alaska, John (and Dianna) Theis of Paynesville, Ronald (and Cleo) Theis of Montevideo, and Judy Martinson of Eden Valley; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
