Harold Winter of Watkins died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 68.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Church of St. Gertrude in Forest City. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Harold Edmund Winter was born May 6, 1944, in St. Cloud to Edmund and Aurelia (Becker) Winter. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1962. Following high school, he worked at Cold Spring Granite for a short time. Harold then began working construction, doing curb and gutter in the Twin Cities area. He was united in marriage to Sharon Wurm in Maple Lake. They made their home in the Watkins area. Harold was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church and the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Minnesota Cement Masons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and riding his motorcycle. He was very interested in Native American heritage. In earlier years he raised and raced dogs. Harold really enjoyed visiting with people and spending time with his family.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon; and brother David Winter.
He is survived by his children Dianna Ertl (and friend Jeff Brandl) of Watkins, Darala (and Darren) Loch of Litchfield, Tom Winter (and friend Rose Huhn) of Avon; grandchildren Mitchell, Jacob, and Abby Ertl, Kylie and Andrew Loch, Alex and Brooke Winter.He is also survived by special friend Marie Bohning of Forest City, sister-in-law Barb Winter of Montrose, and special sister Paola Silveira from Brazil.
