Vera Theisen of Annandale, formerly of Kimball, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Annandale Care Center. She was 85.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Thursday in the St. Boniface Narthex. Parish prayers will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday followed by a rosary with the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.
Vera was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Kimball to Arthur and Grace (Mayer) Gulso. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1944. She married Leander Theisen in 1946; he preceded her in death in 1986. They lived 40 years in St. Paul and West St. Paul where Vera worked for the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation for 27 years. Vera moved to Cold Spring in 1997, and to Annandale in 2007 to be closer to Patricia, their only child. She was a member of Cold Spring VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Lee; brother Wayne Gulso; sister Elnora Newman; half-brothers Darrell and John Magnuson; and sisters-in-law Eileen Theisen, Vonnie Magnuson, and Virginia Magnuson.
She is survived by her daughter Pat (and Chuck) Stoppelman of Maple Lake; grandchildren Bryan Stoppelman, and Lisa (and Daniel) Weck, both of Maple Grove; half-sister Mavis Magnuson; half-brother Irven Magnuson; sisters-in-law Loretta Schreifels and Sally Maile; brother-in-law Al (and Carol) Theisen; several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.
