Lasagne Italiano

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
1 1/2 cups water
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. oregano leaves
1/4 tsp. pepper
8 oz. lasagne noodles, cooked and drained
1 lb. ricotta or cottage cheese
2 packages (6 oz each) Mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Brown meat; drain. Add onion; cook until tender. Stir in tomato paste, water, and seasonings. Cover; simmer 30 minutes. In 11 3/4 x 7 1/2-inch baking dish, layer half of noodles, meat sauce, ricotta chesse and Mozzarella cheese; repeat layers. Sprinkle wiht Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
