1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3/4 lb. raisins
1/4 lb. citron
4 1/2 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. caradamom
2 compressed yeast cakes
2 tsp. salt
Melt butter and sugar in hot milk. When lukewarm, add dissolved yeast and enough flour to make better. Add more flour and knead well, then let rise until light. Add raisins and citron and knead slightly and let rise again. Mold into loaves or rounds. Let rise. Bake in a moderate oven at 350 degrees. Brush loaves with melted butter before baking.
