Kimball Elementary School held their D.A.R.E. program graduation Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 21, in the school gym. Students in Mrs. Herrington’s and Mrs. Niemi’s fifth-grade classrooms proudly received certificates for completing the anti-drug program. They carefully listened to four of their classmates read their essays that were chosen from among the whole class (at left). They received their certificates. They sang the D.A.R.E. song (above). And they watched a slide show of their activities in the D.A.R.E. program this year as their parents and other family and friends watched. (D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. It not only teaches students to avoid alcohol, cigarettes, and other drugs, but it also teaches self-esteem and self-reliance) Staff photos by Jean Doran Matua.
