Johanna Beck Muehring was born March 21, 1924, in Sao Pedro do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to missionary parents Rev. John and Gloria (Berwald) Beck. She grew up in several small towns in Central Minnesota. Her family moved to Fairhaven in her junior year. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1942. Later, she met and married her beloved Harlan Muehring Jan. 13, 1946. They welcomed two children Mark and Joy into their lives. In 1968, the family moved from St. Paul to Arvada, Colo., and in 1986, she and Harlan retired to Tempe, Ariz. Johanna enjoyed many things, including teaching Sunday School to children and leading Bible Studies. She was a life-long learner who loved reading and researching topics, traveling during her middle age to exotic places with family, and playing fun card games. But the love of her life was, and always will be her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her precious loved ones, husband Harlan; son Mark (and Kris); daughter Joy; spiritual daughter Almedia (and Dave); many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters, and all those friends dear to her heart. She loved to share God’s faithfulness to all who would listen.
