Lady Cubs v ACGC

The Kimball girls’ basketball team finished a busy three-game week which started with a thrilling overtime win Tuesday,
Dec. 4, at ACGC. Kimball started ice cold as ACGC built a
25-6 lead before the Lady Cubs began to make a charge. Senior center Allie Seth provided an offensive spark, scoring 8 first-half points while junior guard Lexi Rose drained a three-pointer to provide some hope for the Cubs who chipped away at the ACGC lead. Climbing back to a 22-30 deficit at the half, the Cubs came out in the second half continuing to push for a comeback. Seth continuned to dominate inside as she scored at will in the post. Seth finished her offensive output by scoring a three-point play to tie the game on the Cubs final possession and send the game into overtime. Overtime would be a challenge for the Cubs as Seth, along with senior guard Breane Meierhofer, senior center Kaylee Petty, and sophomore forward Madelyn O’Brien, all would foul out. While the Cubs reached deeper into their reserves off of the bench, senior guard Kenadi Mackereth, senior guard Peyton Schreiner, and senior guard Casie Mackereth all made huge baskets for Kimball in overtime. With 15 seconds remaining and the Cubs down by one point, Schreiner drove to the hoop and was fouled on the play. Schreiner calmly swished both free-throws to give Kimball the lead 54-53, and the Cubs made one final defensive stand to preserve the victory. Seth scored 20 points, Meierhofer 8 points and 7 assists, Schreiner 6 points and 6 rebounds, Casie Mackereth 5 points, O’Brien 5 points and 7 rebounds, Kenadi Mackereth 4 points, Rose 3 points, Petty 2 points, and Raelynn Callander 1 point and 2 steals.

Lady Cubs v Paynesville Bulldogs

Thursday, Dec. 6, the 3-0 Cubs would play the 4-0 Paynesville Bulldogs in game two for the week. The two teams played fairly evenly until Paynesville turned a 23-17 halftime lead into a 35-23 lead with less than nine minutes to play in the game. The Cubs were finally able to get some offense going late in the contest and narrowed the Paynesville lead to 37-38 with two minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs would prevail in the end, winning by a final score of 41-39 in the clash of undefeated teams. Meierhofer and Seth led the Cubs in scoring with 11 points each, Schreiner 9 points, Casie Mackereth 6 points, and Callander
2 points. Point guard Kenadi Mackereth led the team in rebounding with six boards and also had
3 assists, Schreiner had five boards. Kenadi Mackereth and Meierhofer each had two steals.

Lady Cubs v Dassel-Cokato

On Friday, Dec. 7, Kimball would travel to Dassel-Cokato as winter’s first snowfall came down and the Cubs would take on a tough 3-1 Dassel-Cokato squad in a back-to-back gamenight effort. The Chargers brought a tough physical man-to-man defense that made it difficult for Kimball to produce high-percentage attempts. D-C would lead 24-12 at the half and continued on to hand the Cubs a 54-32 defeat. The Cubs were led with 10 points by Meierhofer, 6 points by Kenadi Mackereth, Seth and Petty with 4 points each, Rose and Screiner each had three, and Casie Mackereth two points. Seth led in rebounding with six and O’Brien with five. Kenadi Mackereth had four assists and Schreiner 2 steals. The Cubs records now stands at 3-2 on the season as Kimball hosts B-B-E Tuesday, Dec. 11 and are at EV-W on Friday Dec. 14. Go Big Blue!
