Livestock Feedlot Permit

Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 116, That Kuechle Dairy LLC, has made application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or the County of Stearns, for a permit to construct or expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.

The existing and/or proposed feedlot is/will be located in the T122N R30W, NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 32, Stearns County, Luxemburg Township, Minnesota. The existing facility consists of a 1) 40’x89’ partial confinement barn attached to a ~170’x224’ (29,150 sq ft) concrete and dirt open lot with runoff controls to the liquid manure storage area (#7); 2) 40’x60’ partial confinement barn attached to a 16’x23’ open lot without runoff controls; 3) 34’x92’ total confinement barn with a 28’x36’ parlor and a 16’x18’x10’ liquid manure storage area; 4) 16’x16’ partial confinement barn attached to a 16’x20’ open lot; 5)
30 calf hutches; 6) 244’x272’ open dirt lot; 7) a 35’x50’x8.5’ liquid manure storage area; 8) 110’x132’ total confinement barn attached to a 12’x110’x8’ liquid manure storage area; and 9) 110’x349’x10’ earthen liquid manure storage area. The proposed facility additions include: 1) 120’x56’ total confinement parlor addition; 2) 96’x112’ total confinement addition.

The feedlot is proposed to increase Animal Units (AU) from 230 milk cows, 120 heifers, 170 calves, 100 steers, 25 cow/calf pairs and 2 horses (total of 572 AU) to 250 milk cows, 120 heifers, 170 calves, 100 steers, 25 cow/calf pairs and 2 horses (total of 600 AU).

This publication shall constitute as notice to each resident and each owner of real property within 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the proposed feedlot as required by Minnesota State Law.
