Neither rain, sleet or snow could deter the Hickman family from doing their planned hayride. Twenty-six people and seven dogs left the farm on an overcast-sky day, Thanksgiving Day.The ride made its way six miles to Watkins to the Hilltop Health Care Center to pick up someone special.

Five generations from age 3 to 93, including Loretta Brutger, went on a ride to visit the old homesteads and (or through) around town. It began to sleet and then to snow; by the time we returned home, we were covered in the white stuff. Our tractor driver even looked like the jolly old fellow himself. After enjoying hot chocolate and hot apple cider, the family bundled up again and went out through the woods at grandma’s house enjoying the beauty of winter’s wonderland. Memories are made of this.
