Another pay freeze for Stearns County Commissioners

Stearns County Commissioners will not receive a pay increase next year. Commissioners voted
4 to 1 today in favor of a pay freeze.

Because of tight budgets and reduced spending, the Board felt they needed to do their part to trim the budget.

This vote means Stearns County Commissioners will not have received a pay increase in the last 5 years. Commissioners’ salaries for 2013 will stay at $35,500 a year, with no per diems - additional pay for attending meetings.

Stearns County Commissioner salaries fall below salaries for commissioners in comparison counties (neighboring and size). On average, those salaries were just under $41,000, plus per diems for many counties.
