Swisher wins scholarship



Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program for 2012

Sheriff Jeff Norlin of Meeker County announced Friday, 
Dec. 28, the winners of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program for 2012. The association awards up to 15 scholarships each year to individuals planning to become Minnesota peace officers. The applicants apply through their local Sheriff’s Office. This year, the Scholarship Committee chose 14 winners out of the broad spectrum of applicants. The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Program, which is promoted by the 87 Sheriffs of Minnesota, is pleased to announce the winner for Meeker County. He is: Mr. Samuel Swisher, of Darwin.


The other 13 award winners were Bryce Quiring, Alexandria, Minn. 56308; Erin Butler, Fargo, N.D. 58102; Logan Brand, Rushford, Minn. 55971; Casey Pahl, Pine Island, Minn. 55963; Derrick Deutsch, Grand Rapids, Minn. 55744; Randie Carlson, Bloomington, Minn. 55437; Shawn Carlson, Willmar, Minn. 56201; Darrin Isaacson, North Mankato, Minn. 56003; Orlando Peralta, Thief River Falls, Minn. 56701; Allen Mekash, Roseau, Minn. 56751; Heather Pierson, Prior Lake, Minn. 55372; Jennifer Schmitz, Belle Plaine, Minn. 56011; and Trent Prince, Afton, Minn. 55001.

Sheriff Jeff Norlin and the members of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association offer their congratulations to each of the scholarship winners. The qualifications and academic excellence shown by this winner reflect the dedication and pride of the young people in the State of Minnesota who will enter the difficult but rewarding profession of law enforcement and public service.
