In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Subway gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Luxemburg’s Subway and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for December 2012:
Grade 7-Lidiah Zipp Lidiah is a mature young lady who is considerate of her classmates and staff. She helps diffuse situations between classmates and brings a positive attitude to every class. Being a hard worker, being attentive, and remembering what her teachers say are other reason Lidiah is an exceptional student. Grade 8-Stephanie Hurrle Stephanie Hurrle has been chosen as the 8th grade student of the month for December. Stephanie is a truly gifted student. She focuses on the work to be done; she consistently gives thoughtful responses in class and works hard. Stephanie is a student who looks for a challenge and is accountable for the time and commitment needed to be successful in that challenge. Stephanie is respectful as a student, peer, and friend. She truly is a role model for all students. Keep up the good work Steph! Grade 9-Madison Libbesmeier Madison Libbesmeier has been selected as student of the month because of her leadership, self-motivation, and enthusiasm for learning. Madison works diligently to complete tasks at a high level, while needing very little extra direction. Her ability to show respect, problem solve and be positive toward students and staff are excellent qualities that make her an obvious choice for this award. Grade 10-Mady Jansky Mady is a thoughtful student with a pleasant personality. She works very well independently and has a genuine interest in learning. She is an asset to all of her classes because of her insightful questions and is a role model to other students in class. Grade 11-Derek Jensen Derek Jensen has been nominated for the junior class’s December’s Student of the Month. Over the course of the school year, Derek has demonstrated noteworthy leadership skills. He has demonstrated ownership in his own learning. He works productively during class time to complete quality work, genuinely participates in class discussion, chooses to surround himself with other students who also have similar classroom goals, and is positive toward his peers and teachers. Teachers and students alike appreciate his sense of humor and level of maturity he brings to the classroom. Congratulations to Derek on this nomination! Grade 12-Kaylee Petty As teachers, we are blessed with Kaylee’s smile on a daily basis. Kaylee finds a reason to grin and laugh in almost every class period. She warms up a room with her presence. In addition, she is an excellent teacher’s assistant. She is dedicated to multiple activities at the school. Her advisors and coaches recognize her as one of the most reliable students they have worked with. For these reasons and more, Kaylee is a very deserving student of the month for the senior class.
