Tuesday night, Jan. 8, the Kimball JV boys’ basketball team rallied in the closing minutes to defeat the Holdingford Huskers 39-37. Down 37-32, the Cubs were able to hold the Huskers scoreless for more than four minutes as they tightened up defensively, and forced some key turnovers when they applied full-court pressure. Ben Serbus and Will Spaulding hit some clutch shots as the Cubs took the lead with just under a minute remaining and held on for the win. “We executed very well down the stretch with Brandon Schiefelbein setting great screens to free Will in the post for three huge scores. It was a great team effort.” said Coach Rick Hendrickson. Serbus led the way in scoring with 11, and Spaulding had 10. The Cubs hit the road for both games next week as they play in Paynesville on Tuesday, Jan. 15, and in Pierz on Thursday, Jan. 17.
