Cubs take down Royals



The Cubs traveled to Royalton to take on the host school Thursday, Jan. 10. The match had five lead changes, and came down to a fall at heavy weight from Tim Konz for the Cubs, to come out victorious. The Cubs had some new kids in the line-up that helped get the victory, Joseph Donnay stepped in at 113 in order to give the Cubs some flexibility with their line-up, and Alec Johnson stepped in at 120, to accept a forfeit. scored a fall in 3:47 over Matt Neu, to give the Cubs their first lead of the night. Marcus Hamer (145) scored another fall for the Cubs in 1:52 over Ty Held. Markus Mehr won by a decision 5-3 over Shawn Urbanski, to give the Cubs their second lead of the night.
Travis Wills and Austyn Schlueter accepted forfeits on the night, and gave the Cubs the lead again for the third time. Then Tim Konz gave the Cubs their fourth and final lead at heavyweight with a 3:40 fall over Tony Gadacz. The Cubs won the dual with a
39-37 score.


Next, the Cubs will host Holdingford on Thursday Jan. 17. JV will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by parents’ night and Varsity will start no sooner than 7 p.m.
