Local crime blotters Feb. 7, 2013

Snowmobile theft

Wednesday, Jan. 30, at about
12:40 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft of a 1998 Artic Cat snowmobile from a location in Holdingford. The owner also reported that he drove through St. Anna and saw his (now damaged) snowmobile parked near a residence.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence which gave them probable cause to arrest Gregory Glen, 24 of Avon/St. Anna, for
felony possession of stolen property. Glenn was arrested and booked into the Stearns County Jail and later released.

Public, beware of ‘peddlers’

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office would like to inform the public of recent “peddlers” going to local businesses and trying to sell the employees perfume. The Sheriff’s Office and the Litchfield Police Department have received complaints that these people are very persistent and will sometimes not leave when asked until something is bought from them. These high-pressure sales attempts have occurred at various locations in Meeker County. The Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to not purchase the perfume or other items, and to contact local law enforcement if you need assistance with having the “peddlers” removed. These “peddlers” often work for small private businesses, on-line businesses, or for themselves, and their products might not be safe, packaged properly, tested, and almost certainly not returnable.
