Messman: February 15 Update

I Love to Read Month:

Wild Country 99 helped us celebrate I Love to Read Month by providing on-air personality readers who came out to our elementary sites and read with our students. NEW this year! Every school that registered and participated in the program will be entered into a drawing for a $1,500 donation to their school’s library from Plaza Park Bank, Coborn’s and Wild Country 99! You can help us win by logging onto the following address and voting for Eden Valley-Watkins Schools to win the $1,500 donation. http://wild<br< a="">> country99.com/contests/list/wild-about-reading

Kindergarten Roundup:

Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary Schools will hold kindergarten roundup Monday, March 4, at the following times:

10-11 a.m. – Watkins Elementary

7-8 p.m. – Eden Valley Elementary

The roundup will include an informational session with the parents and a get-acquainted session for the children. If you have friends, neighbors, or relatives with eligible kindergarten students, tell them that Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School would love to be their education provider. If you are on our census list, you should receive a letter from the Elementary office explaining kindergarten roundup in greater detail. If you have not received a letter, or have any questions regarding kindergarten roundup, please call the Elementary office at 453-6455 ext. 2134. (You can attend the Round-up at either school, regardless of which school your kindergartner will attend.)

Construction Update:

Our construction project continues as expected, and we’re excited to see the hardwood floors installed in the gymnasium and stage. FLR Sanders has completed the sanding and staining, and will begin sealing and painting the lines on the floor. We anticipate full completion of the floors around March 11, with bleacher installation to follow.

As a reminder, all of our exterior doors are locked at 8:30 a.m. and all visitors need to check into the high school office located at the south entrance of Brooks Street lobby.

Senior of the Week:

The EV-W School District would like to recognize Tina Streit, daughter of Joe and Diane.

Tina is a very special student who has made a lasting impression on her teachers, school environment, and peers. She is an NHS member and active participant in volleyball and softball.

Tina demonstrates heightened levels of determination and commitment to her schoolwork, academic career, and accomplishing her goals. The EV-W administration, faculty and staff are extremely proud of your accomplishments. Congratulations!
