KAHS speech team activities

Speechers are used to frigid temperature and to blustering winds in the early mornings. But seriously, Mother Nature, enough already!

Annual Sweetheart Breakfast

The annual Sweetheart Breakfast, traditionally held the weekend closest to Valentine‚Äôs Day, was postponed because of a winter storm. It is rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kimball High School Cafetorium, and this time, Mother Nature is going to have to cooperate. Please join us for hot pancakes, crackling Knaus sausages, and love poetry and songs. Adults are $7, under 5 are $3 and tickets available at the door.

Feb. 2, One-Act Section

Despite the snowy activity of the skies, Kimball Speechers have been bringing home heart-warming hardware. While most of the team was performing on stage at the One Act Section festival Saturday, Feb. 2, three brave souls ventured to Albany with assistant coach Carelyn Hillstrom, and all three won in their categories. Shelby Schiefelbein placed third in Original Oratory, and speech rookies Abbey Scheifelbein won fifth in Informative Speaking, and Danielle Helgeson received an Honorable Mention in Serious Prose.

Swanville H.S. Feb. 9

Saturday, Feb. 9, the team traveled the long and winding road to Swanville High School, and won a First Place-Small Team trophy. Receiving Honorable Mentions were Caleb Anderson, Serious Drama, Danielle Helgeson, Serious Prose, and Megan Bisila, Informative Speaking. Tess Vossen earned a fifth-place ribbon in Serious Poetry, and in Storytelling, Olivia Straley and Maicy Vossen respectively won third- and second-place medals.
