Fredinand Marquart, 78

Fredinand L. Marquart of Kimball died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was 78.w-Fredinand-Marquart
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud with the Rev. Mark Ostendorf officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
 
Fred was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Orrin, N.D., to Ludwig and Elizabeth (Bachmeier) Marquart. He attended country school near Orrin for a short time and then as a young boy went to work on the family farm. When he was a teenager, his family moved to St. Cloud. He then worked for area dairy farmers before he went into the service. Feb. 1, 1956, Fred enlisted into the U.S. Army. He served his country for three years at several bases including Panama and Fort Jackson, S.C. He was honorably discharged Jan. 19, 1959, when he returned to St. Cloud.
 
He married Janet Zeppelin Sept. 26, 1959. Six children were born to this union. After they were married, Fred went to work at DeZurik's as a molder in their foundry for 37 years. Fred and Janet lived in St. Cloud during this time. In 1978 they moved to a hobby farm near Pearl Lake which has been their home since then.
 
Over the years, Fred enjoyed gardening. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty, and a past member of Moose Lodge #1400 in Waite Park.
 
Fred was preceded in death by son Lawrence; grandchildren Andrew, Jessica and Brian Marquart; and great-grandchild Alyssa.
 
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet of Kimball; five children: Linda Marquart of St. Cloud, Lester (and Wendy) Marquart of Sauk Rapids, Ronald Marquart of Chesapeake, Va., Carol Marquart (and John) Norrell of St. Cloud, and Sharon Marquart of Waite Park; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Benedicta Linn of Kimball, and Anna Mary Bosie of Luxemburg; other relatives and friends.
