Maine Prairie car crash with injuries

Monday morning, March 11, at about 3:04 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office learned of a possible car crash with injuries that may have occurred in Stearns County. Deputies were able to locate the crash scene on County Road 149 just north of 145th Street in Main Prairie Township. A 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Dillon Hansen, age 20, of Watkins was driving south on County Road 149. The car slid off the roadway and rolled several times. The driver was ejected during the crash. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by family. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. The St. Cloud Police Department assisted.

Grain bin fire with injuries

Thursday, March 7, at 2:22 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and the Dassel Fire Department were dispatched to a grain bin fire at 17686 CSAH 9, in Ellsworth Township. When the deputy arrived it was discovered that the property owner, Alan West, 60, of Darwin, was working on a grain bin with a cutting torch, when he became injured by an auger. West was taken by another person working at the property to Meeker Memorial Hospital and he was later flown out by Life Link Air Ambulance. When Eric Sandstede, 46, of Dassel, arrived back at 17686 County State Aid Highway 9, he discovered the burning beans and contacted the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office to report the fire. Dassel Fire Department responded and cut an additional hole in the bin to extinguish the beans. Estimated loss was approximately 15,000 bushel of beans.

March 4, Russell Allen Schaefer, 38 of St. Cloud, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of second-degree assault.

March 4, James Michael Pinkston, 43 of St. Cloud, was arrested in Clearwater Township on the charge of kidnapping.

March 4, Paul Taylor, 59 of St. Cloud, was arrested in Clearwater on the charge of kidnapping.

March 4, Nicole Marie Pappenfus, 32 of St. Cloud, was arrested in Clearwater on the charge of aid and abet false imprisonment.

March 4, Timothy Lloyd Dahl, 36 of Maple Lake, was charged with felony second-degree burglary.

March 5, Vance Edward Rossberg, 22 of Annandale, was arrested in Buffalo on Wright County warrants for domestic assault and fifth-degree assault.

March 6, Eli Stuart Spitzner, 31 of Minneapolis, was arrested in Annandale on a Hennepin County warrant for contempt of court.

March 8, Amanda Marie Reinke, 24 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on a Wright County warrant for probation violation.

March 8, Brandon Michael Anderson, 25 of Annandale, was arrested in Maple Lake on a Wright County warrant for probation violation.

There were 11 property-damage accidents, 5 personal-injury accidents, 1 hit-and-run accident, and 3 car-deer accidents.

There were 11 arrests for DWI,
4 underage-consumption arrests,
2 school bus stop-arm violations, and 113 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Meeker County Sheriff’s Office

Monday, March 11

3:03 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office in checking the area in and around Watkins for a possible roll-over vehicle. The deputy was canceled a short time later as the vehicle was located in Stearns County by the Sheriff’s Office and assistance was no longer needed.

Saturday, March 9

12:00 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a noise complaint at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins. The deputy made contact with the homeowner who was given a warning.

4:03 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on the roadway at the Kingston Minimart, MN Highway 15, Kingston Township. MN Department of Transportation was contacted via the MN St Patrol for the flooding on the bridge so that the snow could be removed and the standing water could drain.

Friday, March 8

12:54 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the Wright County Sheriff’s Office with a K-9 demo at the Dassel Cokato High School, Reardon Avenue SW, Cokato.

8:05 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received information of a possible theft of a snowmobile from a residence on 574th Avenue, Manannah Township.

10:55 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office observed an occupied stalled vehicle near the intersection of MN Highway 55 and County State Aid Highway 2, City of Watkins. The deputy, after investigation, arrested Raymond Edward Springsteen, age 33, of Big Lake, for 4th Degree Driving While Intoxicated and a report was filed.

 

Thursday, March 7

1:02 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a scam attempt at a residence on County State Aid Highway 19, Kingston.

1:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a request to assist in unlocking a vehicle at a residence on 1st Street, Watkins. A deputy was able to successfully unlock the vehicle.

1:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received information on a snowmobile complaint near the intersection of 318th Street and 748th Avenue, Kingston Township. The snowmobiles were gone when the deputy arrived.

6:08 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious persons at an address on 706th Avenue, Kimball. The deputy made contact with the caller and determined the suspicious persons had a legitimate reason for being there and everything was okay.

6:15 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office along with Eden Valley Police arrested, Bradley Tomas Hamilton, age 26, Watkins, on two Meeker County warrants. One was for failed to appear for omnibus hearing on felony theft and the second for failed to appear for arraignment on misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

6:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person at an address on Church Street, Watkins. Upon arrival the deputy found everything to be okay.

Wednesday, March 6

9:14 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Caisson Road, Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

10:29 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an animal complaint at a residence on 365th Street, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy found all to be okay on arrival.

4:00 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at Powder Ridge, 93rd Avenue, Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

4:20 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at a residence on State Street North, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

Monday, March 4

12:14 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the Dassel Entertainment Center, Parker Avenue West, City of Dassel. The deputy did find criminal damage to property at the business and filed a report.

7:44 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical in Stearns County at a residence on Carnelian Road, Main Prairie Township. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

9:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from the Hilltop Health Care Center on Luella Street, Watkins. The book was later returned. 

12:15 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at St. Anthony Manor, Watkins.

9:37 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeffery Richard Jadinak, age 27, of Eden Valley, at a residence on State St. N., Eden Valley, on a Meeker County Warrant for felony terroristic threats and gross misdemeanor stalking. The Eden Valley Police Department also assisted on the scene.
