Marvin May of Watkins died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his home in Watkins. He was 85.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins, and will continue Thursday at 9 a.m. There will be parish prayers at 4:30 and a Rosary at 4 p.m. at the funeral home Wednesday. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery.

Marvin Tony May was born June 21, 1927, to Matthew and Catherine (Beckius) May in St. Nicholas, Minn. He grew up and attended country school in St. Nicholas. Marvin served with the Military PJohnson-Hagglund Funeral Homeolice in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his military service in 1956, he returned to Minnesota. He was united in marriage Oct. 11, 1958, to Theresa Deutsch. They moved to Hopkins and lived there for four years before moving to Watkins in 1962. Marvin worked for the Werner Elevator in Watkins until he retired in 1998. He was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Watkins Senior Citizens. In his younger years, Marvin enjoyed fishing, especially his trips to Canada with his brothers. He loved spending time with his family, going out to eat, playing bingo, cards, or just going for a drive. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors and working in the yard. He would often help his brother Eldred on the farm.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Theresa; sisters Lucille Berger, Lorainne Klein; brothers Donald May, Ervin May, Roman May, and Eldred May; and a son-in-law Scott Bolstad.

He is survived by his daughters Debbie (and Mike) Seykora of Lincoln, Neb., Cindy (and Mike) Warren of Watkins, Connie May of Eugene, Ore., Nancy Wiechmann of Watkins, Vicki Wetther (and friend Raphael Kpissay) of Ramsey, and Kristi May of Willmar; 10 grandchildren Jason, Chad, Angie, Eric, Brandon, Tanna, Grant, Isaac, Keshia, and Miatta; four great-grandchildren Noah, Jacob, Andrew, and Carson; sisters-in-law Dorothy May and Leona May. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
