Wright County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 17, Andrew William Plamann, 23 of Clearwater, was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for domestic assault. Dec. 17, John Edward Hedberg, 31 of Annandale, was arrested in Buffalo on the charge of violation of a domestic abuse no contact order.

Public’s Help Needed for Information on Person of InterestThe Stearns County Sheriff and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) held a press conference this afternoon to announce they likely found the weapon used to kill Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker. They said the person of interest in the case was found dead after hanging himself.
On Wednesday, January 2, BCA agents went to the home of Cold Spring resident 31-year old Eric Joseph Thomes to re- interview him regarding the shooting death of Officer Decker. When investigators arrived, Thomes ran out of his home and into an outbuilding on his property. After a several hour standoff, officers went inside the building and found him dead.

Saturday, Dec. 22, at 4:56 p.m.
the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the Watkins Fire Dept., Watkins Rescue, the Eden Valley Fire Dept., and the Litchfield Fire Dept. responded to 64921 350th Street for a barn fire. The fire was reported by Florence DeHeer age 70, and the owner of the residence, when she noticed smoke from the barn roof. The fire started in a lean-to off the east side of the barn, that was used as a work shop. The rest of the barn was used for personal storage.

Thursday, Dec. 27, at 3:33 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call and dispatched Dassel Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at 24506 700th Avenue in Dassel Township, the Craig and Barbara Kay residence. The caller stated that there had been a sledding accident. It was learned that a 10-year-old girl, a granddaughter visiting from Fayetteville, N.C., had been sledding down a hill with other children in the backyard when her sled had hit a raised stump and she was ejected from the sled.

Recent snowfall will likely bring out more Minnesota snowmobilers and that means there’s an increased chance of an accident, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). There were six snowmobile-related deaths in Minnesota during the 2012 snowmobile season. That compares to 13 fatalities in 2011 and 19 fatalities in 2010.
