Single-car accident with injury
Sunday, Nov. 3, at around 6:45 p.m., Brett Anderson of South Haven was northbound on Highway 22 south of Richmond when he lost control of his Chevy Silverado around a curve. The pickup went off the road and hit a tree. Anderson, 43, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
Car crash with injuries
Friday, Nov. 8, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Joseph Police Department, St. Joseph Fire and Rescue, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to a motor vehicle accident on CR 75 west of CR 3 in St. Joseph Township. Douglas Donald Rausch, age 43 of Richmond, was driving his 2008 silver Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on CR 75 when he crossed over into the oncoming lanes of traffic and into the ditch on the other side. The Grand Prix struck two trees and rolled over twice before coming to rest on its roof. Rausch was treated at the scene by St. Joseph Rescue and taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance. The accident is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
As Minnesotans enjoy their last bit of time on water before the ice, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is warning boaters, paddlers and waterfowl hunters not to let their guard down.
Right now, water temperatures on Lake Minnetonka and the
St. Croix River are hovering around 40 degrees.
“Forty degrees is cold,” said Kara Owens, DNR boat and water safety specialist. “Cold water can prove dangerous, or even deadly, especially if people don’t consider the consequences of falling into frigid water this time of year.”
Paynesville sex offender update
Level III sex offender Michael Shawn Klappenbach was released from jail Oct. 13 to live in a home on Pirz Lake Road in rural Paynesville.
He was re-arrested late Wednesday night, Oct. 30, and is currently in the Stearns County jail, being held without bail. He was arrested on a Department of Corrections warrant with felony-level charges and no anticipated release date.
School bus fire, no injuries
Thursday, Oct 31, at 7:48 a.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a school bus on fire in front of the address of 65260 288th Street in Forest City Township, and that all of the persons were out of the bus and there were no injuries. Meeker County Sheriff’s Deputies and Litchfield Fire Department were dispatched. Upon the deputies’ arrival, a Hicks school bus was smoking heavily and the driver and approximately 43 children were being loaded into a second Hicks school bus. The driver indicated that she noticed an odor and then smoke coming from control panel in the driver’s compartment, and immediately evacuated the children, expended the on-board fire extinguisher, and called for assistance. Upon arrival of the Litchfield Fire Department, the front of bus was fully engulfed in flames and it was quickly extinguished.
The bus was a total loss and had to be towed from the scene. The estimated value of the bus is $60,000.
The Volunteer Attorney Program of Central Minnesota Legal Services (CMLS) in St. Cloud has scheduled a seminar on identity theft for 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Great River Regional Library, 1300 W. St. Germain St. in St. Cloud.
George Meinz of Gray Plant Mooty, will be the presenter of this event. During his presentation, Mr. Meinz will discuss:
• Definition of identity theft
• How one’s identity gets stolen
• How to determine if identity theft has occurred
• Protecting one’s identity
• Ways to reduce the risk of identity theft
Mr. Meinz will also be available to answer any questions.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office
Oct. 21, William Mathew Nutt, 35 of Annandale, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Oct. 22, Linda Sue Gipson, 52 of Annandale, was arrested in Yellow Medicine County on a Wright County warrant for probation violation.
Oct. 23, Joseph Daniel Zeidler, 25 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on a Wright County warrant for second-degree controlled substance violation and the charges of fifth-degree controlled substance violation and flee police on foot.
Oct. 25, Debra Lynne Schroeder, 56 of Annandale, was arrested in Southside Township on the charge of domestic assault.
Oct. 25, Jamie Yvette Walter, 43 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Stearns County on Wright County warrants for domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
