Barn fire west of Litchfield

Wednesday, April 3, at 5:12 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a barn on fire located at 59157 US Highway 12, west of Litchfield. Meeker County Deputies and the Litchfield Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. The Litchfield Fire Department requested and received mutual aid, in the form of tankers and man power, from Grove City Fire Department, Cosmos Fire Department, and the Dassel Fire Department.

Be Ready: Severe Weather Awareness Week

Tornado Drill Thursday, April 18

Because severe weather can threaten the lives and property of anyone at any time, April 15-19 has been proclaimed Severe Weather Awareness Week. Stearns County Emergency Management wants to take this time to remind its citizens of the importance of understanding severe weather and being personally prepared.

Since 2000 disasters have claimed the lives of 21 Minnesotans and caused more than $373 million in federally declared damages.

Meeker County Severe Weather Awareness Week

Sheriff Jeff Norlin announces that Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed April 15-19, 2013, as Severe Weather Awareness Week and Meeker County will participate in this important week.

Since 2000 disasters have claimed the lives of 21 Minnesotans and caused more than $373 million in federally declared damages. Meeker County has been included in two of these declared disasters, the first declaration was from the July 2011 storms that hit the southwest portion of Meeker County and the second declaration was from the June 2012 storms that hit the west central portion of Meeker County.

Legal services provided for seniors in Stearns County

Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid awarded Older American Act funds

The St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has received a grant of Older Americans Act funds from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging to provide legal services for seniors residing in Stearns County. The funds will be used to provide legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administrative hearings. There is no cost for these services.
