Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin announces that three new Emergency Outdoor Storm Warning sirens are being erected in Meeker County complementing an existing system of 20 sirens now in operation throughout the county.

Juvenile drinking party in Grove Township

Twelve citations for minor consumption

New Year’s Day, at 12:30 a.m.,
Tuesday, Jan. 1,  the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was called by the Melrose Police Department about a medical at the address of 34308 Overton Road in Grove Township. An underage boy had been brought to the Melrose Hospital, unresponsive because of the high amount of alcohol he had consumed. Deputies learned that a juvenile party was taking place at the residence and the parents were not at home.

Car crash with injuries Jan. 1

Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 3:16 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury crash at County Road 2 and County Road 4 in St. Wendel Township. When deputies arrived, they learned that a car being driven by Samantha Johnson, age 21, of Minneapolis, was traveling northbound on County Road 2; Johnson failed to yield the right-of-way, and proceded through the intersection. Her car was struck by a car being driven by Chad Fouquette, age 42, of Foley, who was traveling eastbound on County Road 4. Johnson was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance, and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The
Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by St. Stephen Fire and Rescue.
