The Eden Valley Watkins FFA chapter would like to thank everyone who purchased fruit, meat, and cheese this year. We had a very successful sale of more than $30,000 worth of product. Twelve pallets of fruit arrived Thursday, Dec. 5, and was unloaded by 42 FFA members. The top three sales people this year were Dillon Blonigen, Mandy Molitor, and Arnie Gruenes. Thanks again for your continued support of the Eden Valley Watkins FFA chapter.

Youth donate more than 75 birthday bags to area food shelves
Children laughing and having fun, decorations, a cake with candles, and presents are all hallmarks of most children’s birthday parties. Unfortunately, this is not a reality for all families. Celebrating a birthday is a big occasion for any family, but one that is made much more stressful and at times, impossible for some families. The Meeker County 4-H Program has helped to make this possible for more than 75 more children.
One hundred youth from four area school districts, including: Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, Eden Valley-Watkins, Kimball, and Litchfield, participated in a 4-H Holiday Gift Surprises class during December. This class was made possible through a partnership between Meeker County 4-H and local Community Education Programs.

Wednesday, Dec. 11
Join us for Breakfast Club with Dr. Betsy Glade, St. Cloud State University, who will present Minnesotans in the Civil War. Residents of Minnesota had a unique experience in the 1860s. They volunteered to serve their nation in putting down the rebellion by 11 southern states. They also engaged in an internal struggle against their neighbors, the Dakota.
Dr. Glade will explore the experience of various populations in the state, as well as of soldiers serving elsewhere during this period.
Breakfast Club is at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, with Dr. Betsy Glade. This event is free to members, non-members $5.
Eden Valley Healthy Communities Holiday Gathering is planned for 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Event Center. It will include opportunity for Food Shelf donations.
This is an annual event usually coordinated with the Holiday Train coming through; since this year the train is not stopping in Eden Valley, the event is still planned. The Holiday train will stop in Kimball at 9 p.m.
Activities are still being planned, but at this point, the Kingery Family is presenting a Christmas Concert from 7-8 p.m. at the Event Center; soup, hot chocolate, cider, and cookies will be served from 6-8:30 p.m.
