The American Red Cross wants us to mark our calendar for Wednesday, May 15, when they will be visiting Eden Valley from 1-7 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Every donor is important and needed, but this will be a difficult time to get people to commit being that our spring is slow at coming this year. Please help the American Red Cross reach their goal by making an appointment and informing other friends and family about the importance of donating.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form), at least 110 pounds, be in good general health, have NOT donated in the last 56 days OR 112 days if your last donation was double reds, height/weight requirements for donors younger than 19 years may apply.
Valley Daze will indeed come June 20-23. There will NOT be a parade this year (the Kiddie Parade WILL still happen) because of road construction. But many other events remain the same.
There again will be a Thursday evening family kickoff in the park, and a Business Expo Friday and Saturday. The craft fair and the car & tractor show are still being held. And, naturally, lots of food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.
The Valley Daze Committee is hard at work planning some new and exciting events for this year (in part to compensate for there being no parade this year). Watch for details here. Be sure to plan to come out and support Valley Daze, June 20-23!
Are you sick of snow and dreary weather? Brighten up with a trip to the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park Zoo in St. Paul 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 6. The cost is $55. Even if it’s still cold outside (we hope not!), the temperature inside these glass rooms is always tropical. Vibrantly colored flowers bloom in the multiple gardens, including the Ordway Gardens, a $2.8 million building and landscape addition that opened April 19, 2013. After our visit to the Conservatory, we’ll stop at Bachman’s Floral to admire, perhaps even purchase some flowers and plants for our home gardens.
The bus will leave the Stearns History Museum parking lot at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Coffee, cookies, and great conversation on the bus. Lunch not provided (lunch/coffee room at Bachman’s). All this fun for only $55! RSVP by April 29.
