A column about your Eden Valley Area Library
It might come as a surprise how many outstanding authors we have from Minnesota. Most of you are familiar with our favorite, William Kent Krueger. And we’d like to salute Vince Flynn, a St. Paul native who passed away in 2013. Thankfully, he left behind a remarkable collection of political thrillers. Another Minnesota author on our shelves is Stillwater native Nicole Helget with “The Turtle Catcher”. It’s a haunting love story with a heinous crime at the core, taking place during World War I in rural Minnesota.
For the younger set, don’t miss the opportunity to read or listen to “The Tale of Despereaux”. It is an enchanting tale of Despereaux Tillings, a small mouse with unusual talents and the princess he loves. The author is the award-winning Kate DiCamillo, who currently lives in Minneapolis.
Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. the Eden Valley Area Library will hold a meet and greet with British author Gavin Hill. Also featured is Rosie Hartwig for a motivational speaking engagement on discovering a positive approach to life’s struggles combined with artistic style on the wings of photo and verse. The public is invited at no charge.
