The Annandale Friends of the Library 2013 Author Dinner will feature David Housewright. The dinner will take place at Reichel’s Catering and Event Center in Annandale Friday, May 17. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and program at 7 p.m. Ticket price is $25, available at the Annandale Public Library. (No tickets available at the door.) Proceeds go to the Annandale Friends of the Library to support library services.

The free book giveaway is part of World Book Night U.S. (WBN), an ambitious campaign to give thousands of free, specially printed paperbacks to light or nonreaders across America on one day. Great River Regional Library (GRRL) has recruited more than 50 volunteers who will share books at different locations across Central Minnesota such as parks, coffee shops and fitness centers.
“We may never be a full-blown library, but we are tenacious,” said library director Nancy McNab. “I think that’s code for ‘pushy,’” she added.
It took tenacity to spend nearly three years of planning and hard work with no guarantee of success. They had a dream, and a belief in that dream.
Author William Kent Krueger sold and signed his books after the formal presentation.
