There are 21 students in our class. Social studies in sixth grade focuses on the history and geography of Minnesota. We began with the Ice Age and will finish in the modern day. We created large maps 
of Minnesota showing landforms, products, and tourist destinations.
In May, we go to St. Paul to tour the State Capitol and historic Fort Snelling. This trip is a favorite because it highlights all that we have learned throughout the year in social studies.
EV-W Elementary presented their Spring Music Program

Monday, March 11, the Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School presented their Spring Music Program at the high school gymnasium. The theme running through the entire program was a positive one of friendship, kindness, forgiveness, and caring for one another. Directors were Beth Holthaus and Kathy Pauls.
The First Grade students did three pieces: “Be a Friend,” “Put Your Hand In My Hand,” and “Forever Friends”.
EV-W basketball all-conference teams announced

The Central Minnesota Conference recently announced the high school basketball All-Conference Teams, and the Eden Valley-Watkins girls’ and boys’ squads were very well represented. Conference Player of the Year was senior center Courtney Dilley; and senior guards Missy Kummet and Holly Schumacher were named to the First Team. Second Team All-Conference selections were sophomore forward Greta Stommes and junior forward Dani Nelson. The Lady Eagles were conference champions with a 14-0 conference record and 21-5 overall.
Sophomore guard Bret Mattice and sophomore forward Jared Streit were selected to the Boys’ First Team All-Conference. The Eagles finished the season with a 4-10 conference record and an 11-13 overall mark.
EV-W fifth-graders attend ‘The Civil War’ at SJU

Thursday, March 14, the EV-W fifth-grade classes attended Theatreworks USA’s production of “The Civil War” at St. John’s University. This stirring production featured traditional songs of the era, while 
sensitively illustrating this complex, tumultuous chapter of American history.
A Target Field Trip grant paid for the tickets and the bus. The students described the performance as “Awesome!”, “Great!”, “Amazing!” Mrs. Pauls stated “I loved it, the performance was so professionally and artistically executed, with amazing use of props and costumes, great music and talented voices!” EV-W fifth-graders send a big thank you to Target!

Think Spring or just in time for Easter

EV-W Eagles’ Cry and Aquila members will be selling Schwan’s products through Thursday, March 21.
Customers with preorders will be able to pick up and pay for them from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 28 - (the night of high school conferences). The Schwan’s truck will be parked in the high school south parking lot.
Orders will be prepackaged and customers pay when they pick them up. If you can’t be there to pick it up that night, please make arrangements with your seller, since the school doesn’t have freezer space for storage. Also, customers will be able to buy additional products that night. The money will be used for senior scholarships and photography equipment. If you don’t get approached by a seller, contact advisors Julie Bulau or Susan Knutson, and we’ll send one in your direction. We appreciate your support.
