The College of St. Benedict women’s hockey and basketball teams enjoyed volunteering their time at Kimball Elementary School. Thursday, Jan. 9, the hockey team visited, and Friday, Jan. 10, it was the women’s basketball team. This was a great opportunity for these athletes to give back to a local school, and for KES students to meet, learn and play with these successful female athletes. CSB athletes went to classrooms and provided individual and small-group assistance with reading or math, helped with art class, played with the kids during PE and recess, and joined them during lunch. Everyone enjoyed the visit very much.
In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Annandale’s Dairy Queen and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for December 2013:
Grade 7–Josiah Rowland
Josiah Rowland was selected as the December student of the month. He is an inquisitive young man with an excitement for learning. Josiah sets high expectations for himself and works hard to reach them. Another attribute we appreciate about Josiah is that he is not afraid to advocate for his peers.
