The Kimball and Fair Haven Lions purchased three iPads to be used by third-graders at Kimball Elementary School. Feb. 28, some Lions members
visited the school to see how they are used every day. Pictured is Lion Mary Knaus observing Jamison Tubridy (her grandson) and Jordan Massmann playing a learning game on the iPad. The tools provide individualized learning experiences for students that otherwise might not be available.
Kimball Speechers traveled to Sauk Centre Saturday, March 2, to compete with 16 schools for top honors. At a speech tournament, students are ranked in each of three preliminary rounds, where competition is randomly drawn. Scores are then tallied, and speakers with the eight highest
ranks meet in a fourth round. In this final round, the speakers are scored by three judges. Team points are tallied based on both preliminary and final round scores.
Alissa Jones, fourth from left, is a senior who has been part of the Kimball speech team since eighth grade. She has placed second approximately a dozen times over in her career, and she finally earned a champion medal in Extemporaneous Reading. Submitted photo.
