Kimball School Board to consider budget reductions

For the first time in the past three (3) years, the Kimball School Board must make some reductions in order to balance the budget for the 2013-2014 school year.
Reductions during the four (4) years of 2007-2008 to 2010-2011 averaged $230,000 per year. The operating levy that was passed by the voters in November, 2010 made it possible to get past the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years without needing to reduce staff and/or educational programs.

March Students of the Month

In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of
teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Subway gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Luxemburg’s Subway and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for March 2013:
Eagle Scout Project completed

Alex Harter, son of Scott and Lisa Harter, has completed his Eagle Scout Project. The Scout aluminum can recycling was no longer road worthy, so the project
was to take a flatbed snowmobile trailer and construct a cage to collect aluminum cans for recycling. Alex went to his grandfather, Duwayne Orbeck for help. Orbeck had a used snowmobile trailer. Treated plywood was replaced on the deck before Orbeck welded a new steel frame for the cage. Alex, along with two of his Scouting friends, Brad Mies and Austin Roerick, attached chain link fencing to the sides and the top of the cage. Expenses have so far been collected with donations from the Kimball Fire Department and the Kimball Rod and Gun Club. The collected cans have been used over years to support the local Boy Scout Troop 357.
