St. Cloud State University will offer two youth wrestling camps during the month of June 2013. A Mini Intensive Camp for grades 7-12 will be offerend June 16-21, while a Youth Camp for wrestlers in grades K-6 will be offered on June 24-26.
The Mini Intensive Camp costs $400 and it includes three all-you-can-eat meals, a camp T-shirt and first class wrestling instruction from the SCSU coaches. Participants will train like a Husky wrestler and this will include instruction in the latest techniques, drills, live wrestling, conditioning workouts, weight training tips, dieting and nutrition sessions and sports psychology sessions.

butter? Name five macro minerals? These are a few of the questions that the Meeker County 4-H Dairy Project Bowl Teams had to answer correctly at the State Project Bowl Competition held in Foley on April 20th. Meeker County had one Senior and two Junior Dairy teams that competed in this event. All of the Meeker County teams
finished within the top three teams.
The project bowl competition is designed to test the participants’ knowledge in all facets of the dairy industry. The participants spend many hours studying periodicals and other resources getting ready for the contest.
Date change for class to May 16
The Kimball Rod and Gun Club, Kimball Legion, Kimball Lions, and Kimball Fire Department are sponsoring a fishing class called the School of Fish. This class is targeted towards youth but adults can take the class as well. It will teach the fundamentals of fishing. This includes fish identification, shoreline fishing opportunities, and how to tie a knot.
The class is $25 per student and includes a workbook, Northland Tackle Pack, Shakespeare Rod & Reel Set, T-Shirt, and a snack bag ($62 value). The class will be held after school, from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 16. A very special Little Falls Girl Scout troup is delivering 4,000-5,000 items to The St. Cloud Area Salvation Army in St. Cloud at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 1. The items which fill a van and an SUV include clothes, books, food, diapers, toiletries, quilts, blankets, shoes, toilet paper and paper towels.
In November 2012, the girls led by Tammy Philippi visited the Corp building in St. Cloud for a tour of the Army’s programs, services and 64-bed Emergency Shelter. They were so touched by what they experienced, they decided to take on a huge project over several months to collect items that are greatly needed at the Shelter.
For the 26th year in a row, the top high school seniors in Central Minnesota were honored at the Students of Excellence Recognition and Award Ceremony. The event was held at the River’s Edge Convention Center, St. Cloud, with more than 600 students, parents/guardians and educators Wednesday, April 24.
The evening was dedicated to honoring the top 155 high school seniors from more than 38 Region 7 high schools. To date, 4094 students have been recognized!
