Local runners in MMRF 5K

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) held a 5K walk/run at Lake Phalen Regional Park in St. Paul Saturday, Sept. 30. The team "Richard's Racers" was made up of 23 Libbesmeier family members who participated in this fundraiser.

Groups representing farmers, ranchers, Native American tribes, and conservationists have launched National Bison Day to be recognized the first Thursday of each November. National Bison Day provides an opportunity to recognize the historic role of bison in America and the efforts to restore bison as a part of a sustainable food system.

Kingston Wetland Restoration Project

EAW ready for public review

The Clearwater River Watershed District is proposing to restore the Kingston Wetland in an effort to improve water quality in the Clearwater River and downstream lakes. The project is being proposed in response to a watershed-wide Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) study, completed in 2008, that indicated impairments in the downstream water bodies because of low dissolved oxygen.

Hunting accident in Paynesville Township

Saturday, Nov. 3, at 5:20 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff's Office answered to a report of a hunting accident at 26536 Copperfield Road in Paynesville Township.

Deputies met with the victim at the Paynesville Hospital who said he was sitting in his deer stand when he accidentally shot himself in the foot with his shotgun. The 14-year-old boy from Eagan had been hunting alone when the incident happened and noone else was injured. The boy had a firearms safety certificate, and had a few years' hunting and shooting experience.
