The Spring Gathering of the Crow River Conference Women of the ELCA will be held Saturday morning, April 27, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by brunch, special music, a business meeting and election of officers. Pastor Andrea DeGroot-Nesdahl, ELCA Synod Minister, will be the guest speaker. Under her leadership, the ELCA Malaria Campaign was successfully launched and is expected to raise $15 million by 2015 in the fight against malaria in Africa. Having close friends may keep you happy and healthy
Maybe the case of the television show “I Love Lucy” was on to something. A few crazy schemes aside, Lucy, Ricky, Ethel, and Fred were on the right track with their close-knit friendship. A recent study shows that having a good group of friends around may be even more important than family for a long and healthy life.
The Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million among non-profit hunger-fighting agencies nationwide using it as a spur to help them raise funds in March and April.
