The Youth Group of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kimball, is sponsoring “Faith’s Hope Tree,” a special Christmas tree which has been set up along Highway 15, in front of the Dingmann Funeral Home in Kimball. Members of the community are invited to bring prayer requests to the tree. Next week’s paper will have prayer request slips to cut out, or use the slips provided in the container next to the tree to submit your needs and concerns. Those seeking prayer are then asked to put their requests in the containers available by the tree, and hang them on the tree with a lit tea light – also provided. The Youth Group will collect the prayer requests and lift them up in prayer to God. The message of Christmas – that God loved us enough to send His Son to be the Savior of the world – encourages us to bring our prayers to Him, and to pray for the needs of others around us.
Watch for a prayer request slip next week.
Tatum was granted a Make-A- Wish to meet Luke Bryan, a country singer. They flew us to Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday through Saturday, Nov 6-9, where we were put up in a suite. Friday, Nov. 8, a limo picked our family up at the hotel and took us to the arena to meet Luke. After makeup and hair was done, we all got to sit down with him for an hour. This was all filmed for the show that evening. After the taping, we sat for another hour, and he got to know us and Tatum. We even got to sit and chat for awhile on his tour bus. Then Macy’s department store, a huge sponsor of Make-A-Wish, took Tatum shopping for a dress, had her nails and hair done, and treated her like a celebrity. Then back to the limo to be escorted to Bridgestone arena for the taping of the CMA Country Christmas that, I believe, will be airing on ABC Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. Our family had front-row seats and Tatum is going to be a part of the show.
Marilyn Finger and Mary Lou Pivec (along with her grandson Koltyn) from St. Anne’s Catholic Church came up to Heritage House Friday, Nov. 22, and brought along turkey cut-out cookies to help the residents decorate them. They also picked the residents’ brains by doing a map in which they had to say the capital of each state. Everybody had a great time and we certainly do appreciate the ladies when they come to visit and thank them for the time they give to us. Submitted photo.
