Pedal Pilgrimage Aug. 15


Friday Aug. 15, a Pedal Pilgrimage to the Grasshopper Chapel in Cold Spring is planned.

St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Forest City is again organizing the annual pedal pilgrimage to the Grasshopper Chapel in Cold Spring. This 20-mile bike ride combines spiritual and physical exercise. Bikers gather at 3 p.m. Friday for prayer at St. Gertrude’s with additional prayer stops along the way. The pilgrimage concludes with a Mass at the Grasshopper Chapel in Cold Spring.

Candidates for Little Miss Watkins Pageant sought


The Watkins Lions-Lioness Club will again be sponsoring the Little Miss Watkins Pageant during the Kraut N Wurst annual celebration Friday, Aug. 1.

All little girls who are full-time residents of Watkins with a Watkins address: who have completed kindergarten through second grade may qualify for the pageant.

Each eligible candidate must find their own sponsor. Also, any business in Watkins seeking to sponsor a candidate may do so as well.  All candidate sponsors will be required to pay a $25 entry fee for their candidate. Checks should be written to Watkins Lions-
Lioness Club and mailed to PO Box 237 Watkins MN 55389 before July 14.  All sponsor checks must be received prior to the Little Miss Watkins Tea party on July 16.


Christian Women meet July 10

Ladies, if you love fashion, you’ll love the “Fashion Through the Ages” brunch held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Reichel’s Event Center in Annandale. Joyce Yexley from West Fargo will feature the changing fashion sillouette from Victorian to Princess Kate as well as share her story of broken dreams, “From Fiery Trials to New Purpose.” Ageless music will be presented by Penny Koets of Maple Lake. Vacation Bible School at St. Anthony Church

St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins will be presenting our Vacation Bible School Program, Where Jesus’ Love is One-Of-A-Kind. The theme is Weird Animals and the location is the St. Anthony Parish Center. The program will run 9 a.m. - noon each day from Monday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 8. But you must register now. There are seven learning stations: Sing & Play Stampede, Bible Adventures, KidVid Cinema, Wild Crafts, Games, Critter Café, and the Tail End. There will be a preschool classroom called “Ozzy’s Preschool Park”. We encourage you to register early as there is limited space available.
