EV-W’s Logan Linn hurls perfect game vs. KMS

Eagles’ sophomore Logan Linn faced the minimum fifteen hitters, allowing no hits and striking out nine in EV-W’s 10-0 five-inning affair vs. Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Friday, May 2. The Eagles provided plenty of support for Linn, pounding out nine hits and padding the scoreboard in three of the five innings played. Austin Schlangen went 2 for 3 with three RBI and Matt Unterberger went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Eden Valley-Watkins portrayed the quintessential team effort for the hometown faithful, picking up the impressive non-conference win and bidding a fond farewell to The Fighting Saints. Coach Mike Tomsche is overjoyed to pick up the win. “Logan Linn threw a gem and we played solid defense in support. We are happy we put together a good complete game. We are hoping to learn from this game and take away the importance of good pitching and defense.”

EV-W softball team splits doubleheader with Maple Lake

The Eden Valley-Watkins’ softball team split a double-header with Maple Lake Thursday, May 1, winning game one, 5-4 and losing the nightcap, 2-1. “What a great win for our varsity girls’ softball program. It started with Kali Covert, who got her first varsity win, in a masterful performance. We played error-free ball and did a nice job running the bases. After Maple Lake took the lead in the top of the fifth, Mindy Forcier led off with a hit. Kali hit a homerun to straight away center field, to give us the lead, and we held Maple Lake scoreless in their final at bat. We bunted extremely well and fielded the bunt, so it was a great team effort in giving us our first win over the Irish in at least 11 years,” said coach Dave Dziengel.
