The EV-W boys’ basketball team won their game against St. John’s Prep 56-37 Tuesday, Dec. 11. Senior Brent Stenger #3 led the Eagles in scoring with 21 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Fellow Eagle, sophomore Jared Streit #33 had 13 points, 1 assist, 3 blocks, and 3 steals against St. John’s Prep. Sophomore Bret Mattice #5 also had 13 points, and 2 assists. The Eagles had 16 offensive rebounds, 29 defensive rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks, and 7 steals.

The Eagles will play next at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Morris.

Eagles win over Bulldogs

The EV-W boys’ basketball team trampled the Paynesville Bulldogs 62-42 Thursday, Dec. 6, at Paynesville. Senior Bret Mattice paved the way in scoring with
18 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Fellow Eagle, senior Kirby Knutson was close behind in scoring with 14 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The Eagles had 11 offensive rebounds, 25 defensive rebounds, 14 assists, 3 blocks, and 6 steals.

The Eagles will next play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. John’s Prep.

The Eden Valley-Watkins wrestling team took sixth place in the 2012 Cardinal Classic in Willmar Friday, Dec. 7. Teams that attended the tournament were (with their point values): Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 216.00, Willmar 211.50, Quad County 137.50, Benson 135.00, Montevideo 118.50, Eden Valley-Watkins 94.00, Melrose-Sauk Centre 86.00, St. Cloud Tech 81.00, Minnewaska 75.00, and Redwood Valley 45.00.

The Eden Valley-Watkins wrestling team will compete next at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Osakis.

Lady Eagles defeat ACGC Falcons

The Lady Eagles basketball team won their first game of the season against ACGC Falcons 57-43 Friday, Dec. 7 in Grove City. Senior Courtney Dilley #23 controlled the game with 16 points, two steals, 1 block, and 1 assist. Fellow senior Missy Kummet #1 was close behind in scoring with 13 points, five steals, and eight assists. Junior Dani Nelson #41 helped her team with 12 points, five steals, and two assists. The Lady Eagles had 12 offensive rebounds, 16 defensive rebounds, 18 assists, two blocks, and 20 steals. Well done Eagles!

Their next game is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Maple Lake.

Dec. 4 EV-W girls basketball v Litchfield

The Lady Eagles’ basketball team was looking for a win, but lost their game against the Litchfield Dragons 32-50 Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Litchfield. Junior Dani Nelson #41 led the team in scoring with 11 points and two steals. Senior Courtney Dilley #23 contributed 8 points to the total score, and had a steal.

The Lady Eagles had 7 offensive rebounds, 13 defensive rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks, and 15 steals.

Their next game is at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the ACGC High School in Grove City.
