Annual Mail Carrier Food Drive May 11 will feed thousands

WASHINGTON-The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes - allowing postal patrons to literally donate to their hungry neighbors while still wearing their pajamas.

Wright County Swappers Meet is open

As a sure sign of spring, the Wright County Swappers Meet near South Haven opened Saturday, W-CIMG5240April 27, two weeks later than planned because of snow that just wouldn't go away. Within the past week, school spring sports have started outdoor play at long last, local amateur baseball play began, and the Kimball Golf Club opened to the public, even with patches of snow remaining on some of the hills.

Hawaiian Day at Hilltop Health Care Center

We should be well into the Spring sports season by now. Instead, we are still shoveling snow and bracing for winter storms. Fields, tracks, and golf courses alike are buried (again) in white. But the sun has arrived, and with it warmer temperatures. Baseball, softball, golf, and track and field are coming. We just don’t have front-page photos of them yet, with all that green grass just waiting to show itself. So, in the meantime, enjoy this little bit of sunshine brought to Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins last week, Friday April 19 to be exact. Johnny Pineapple brought his show to Hilltop, and we’re sharing it with you here, with warm, sunny wishes for Spring’s arrival! W-IMG 4340
