Reverend Virgil Braun, retired pastor of Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 79.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Church of St. Augustine, St. Cloud, with the Most Reverend John F. Kinney presiding. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Church of the Assumption in Eden Valley. Burial will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Lake Henry, Minn.

Lew Ahrens of Paynesville died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at his home. He was 71.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley with Rev. Bryan Hopfensperger officiating. Friends called between 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday, at the church.

Alice Martin of Mesa, Ariz., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Mesa, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 70.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa, at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, with Rev. Steve Kunkel officiating, followed by a meal in the church hall. A rosary will be said Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the home of Brett and Kelleen Meister in Mesa. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa.

Shirley Ann Olson is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Wes; children Dean (and Tuyet), Lori Grosslein, Connie (and Tom) Oczak, and David (and Debbie); eight grandchildren; and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater with Pastor Mark Coughlin of Immanuel Church of Forest Lake officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be at a later date.
