City of watkins notice of public hearing regarding proposed property tax abatements for the mies outland incorporated project

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Watkins, Minnesota, will hold a public hearing at a meeting of the Council beginning at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 12, 2013, to be held at the Watkins City Hall, 111 Central Avenue South, Watkins, Minnesota, on the request of Mies Outland, Incorporated (the “Company”), in connection with a 3,000 square foot addition to the Company’s existing retail sales facility to be constructed by the Company, to (i) amend the existing abatement agreement between the City and the Company, and (ii) grant an abatement to the Company of property taxes to be levied by the City on Parcel ID #28-0033000 in the City (the “Property”). The total amount of the taxes proposed to be abayed by the City on the Property for the years 2014 through 2020 is estimated to be not more than $175,000. The City Council will consider granting a property tax abayement in response to the request.

The City Council will consider granting a business subsidy in response to the request. Information about the proposed business sibsidy in response to the request. Information about the proposed business subsidy will be on file and available for public inspection at the office of the City Clerk-
Treasurer at City Hall.

A person with residence in or the owner of taxable property in the granting jurisdiction may file a written complaint with the City if the City fails to comply with Sections 116J.993 to 116J.995, and no action may be filed against the City for the failure to comply unless a written complaint is filed.

All interested persons may appear at the public hearing and present their views orally or in writing. Anyone needing reasonable accommodations or an interpreter should contact the City Clerk-Treasurer’s office at City Hall, telephone (320) 764-6400.
