St. Anthony's parish in Watkins held their annual festival, "Picnic in the Park" in McCarthy Park Sunday, Aug. 25. The day happened to be the beginning of a sweltering heat spell, but that didn't deter many.
Despite the very hot weather, St. Anthony’s Picnic in the Park was a wonderful day of celebration. With the shade and the breeze in the park, we had a pretty comfortable day. The beer and pop were ice cold to refresh us, and the food was excellent. Stan’s Country Dutchmen and Wild 99 provided our musical entertainment.
Everyone enjoyed the 50/50 raffle, Bingo and Pull Tabs throughout the day. We had fun at the Lucky At Cards Booth, the Bean Bag Tournament, the Minute to Win It challenge and the Kids Games. Thank you to everyone who came to share the day with us. We had a lot of fun all day long. Thanks to all our parishioners who worked so hard to make the Picnic in the Park such a success. Super thanks to the Watkins Fire Department for all their help setting up the park, and to our super crew of cleaners on Monday morning. Thanks too, to Farmers State Bank for sponsoring Wild 97.
Coming to our celebration certainly leaves you with a good feeling. Seeing so many people working together to make this event happen – and doing it with smiles on their faces, reminds you of what a great parish and great community we have. What a blessing! It was fun to celebrate it with you, and we look forward to next year.
