Whatever the weather, the “Goodbye winter…Hello Spring?”  brunch planned for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Reichel’s Event Center, Annandale, is certain to brighten your day. Patty Mooseburger from Maple Lake Costume Shop will remind us of the fun of being transformed into a clown, a queen, a pioneer or Cinderella. Great music will be presented by The Strand Family; and speaker Elly McDaniel, who was changed by living in a third world country, will talk about “What We Take for Granted”. Church makes plans for future

St. Anthony’s Church of Watkins celebrates 125 years, tackles building project

This is a special – and busy – year for the parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church in Watkins.

W-MikeThe congregation is celebrating its 125th anniversary. A special Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, with the bishop presiding.

And the church is working on a building project which includes tearing down the old rectory and school and building a new social center, according to Renee Miller, the church secretary.

Planning for this project began in 2004 when the parish built an addition to the church that made the facility handicap accessible. That was Phase 1 of the project.


Financial Peace University provides hope to families in Kimball area

More than two million families have positively changed their financial future through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU). The nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught by Dave on DVD followed by a small-group discussion. Lessons include budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. FPU will be held in Kimball at:

Valentine's Day royalty at St. Anthony Manor

Marlene and Ralph Kramer were crowned 2014 Valentines Day Queen and King at St. Anthony Manor during their Valentine’s Day W-IMG 7122celebration Thursday, Feb. 13. The couple has been married 59 years and live on Clear Lake near Watkins. They farmed 40 years outside Watkins, and they have three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. “And we’re still together,” quipped Marlene. “I’m going to keep him.
