Dingmann hits walk off home run for Express

Matt Dingmann hit a 2-out 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Kimball Express defeat the St. Augusta Gussies 10–8. With the Express leading 8–4, going into the ninth inning, the Gussies came up with 4 runs to tie the game at 8–8. That set the stage for Dingmann’s blast in the bottom of the ninth. With a 1–2 count and 2 outs, Dingmann hit the next pitch over the left field wall with his game-winning home run on a warm 75-degree day at Kimball Memorial Baseball Field.

It was the opening game of the Central Valley League season for both teams. Dingmann finished the day 2 for 5, Scott Marquardt was 3 for 4, with a pair of doubles and a triple, and Kyle Winter was 3 for 4. Brooks Marquardt got the pitching relief win. Next up for the Express at Cold Spring Rockies Sunday, May 5, 2 p.m.
